Posidonia 2026, the world's premier shipping exhibition, has set a new attendance record with over 40,000 professionals gathering in Athens. The event, known for its influential networking opportunities and industry insights, has been dominated by discussions on artificial intelligence (AI) and significant strategic investments.

AI Innovations and Strategic Investments

Kpler, a leading maritime analytics provider, announced a strategic growth investment of over $1 billion from Sixth Street, valuing the company at $3.85 billion. This investment underscores the growing importance of data analytics in shipping.

Meanwhile, AD Ports Group made headlines with its largest acquisition to date, purchasing Brazilian agri-bulk terminal operator Corredor Logística e Infraestrutura (CLI) for AED 3.1 billion ($835 million), marking its entry into the South American market.

New Technologies and Platforms

The exhibition also saw the launch of ShipBidNet's Maritime Asset Analytics (MAA) system, an AI-powered ship valuation tool designed to compete with established platforms like VesselsValue and Clarksons.

"AI is transforming the maritime industry, but the challenge remains in distinguishing genuine innovation from mere marketing," noted industry leaders at Posidonia.
