Colis Privé expands last-mile delivery into Spain and Portugal via Paack acquisition

Ceva Logistics has completed the acquisition of couriers Paack Iberia and Paack France for integration into Colis Privé, its European last-mile delivery business, adding approximately 490 employees and extending last-mile coverage into Spain and Portugal, according to FreightWaves.

FreightWaves reported that Ceva Logistics, part of France-based conglomerate CMA CGM, originally announced the deal in late June and confirmed the closing last week. The acquisition aims to strengthen Colis Privé's domestic network in France while enabling it to expand into Spain and Portugal, two fast-growing e-commerce markets, the company announced last week.

Network expansion and assets

According to FreightWaves, Paack supports retailers with an extensive delivery network in the Iberian Peninsula, comprising 82 transfer centers and more than 5,000 active pickup points, as well as six urban delivery stations in France. Packages are delivered to individual residences and out-of-home delivery points.

Colis Privé, based in the Aix-Marseille-Provence metropolitan area, operates a national network of 56 sorting hubs and operational centers and relies on approximately 5,000 delivery drivers to deliver parcels across France daily. The integration adds Paack's Iberian and French assets to Colis Privé's existing footprint in France, Belgium and Luxembourg.

Shipper and operator implications

For freight forwarders, 3PL operators and e-commerce logistics managers, the completed acquisition expands out-of-home collection and delivery capacity across Spain and Portugal. The combined network — 5,000-plus pickup points, 82 transfer centers, 56 sorting hubs and about 5,000 delivery drivers — provides a dense last-mile infrastructure for parcel deliveries to residences and pickup points.

FreightWaves noted that approximately 490 employees will join Colis Privé through the transaction. The company serves leading French and international e-commerce players and, in 2025, strengthened its coverage of France's major metropolitan areas through the acquisition of MIPI, which brought more than 300 delivery drivers.

The acquisition aims to strengthen Colis Privé's domestic network in France while enabling it to expand into Spain and Portugal, two fast-growing e-commerce markets, according to the company.

Background: Ceva and CMA CGM

Ceva Logistics is part of France-based conglomerate CMA CGM, one of the world's largest container shipping and logistics groups. The deal was originally announced in late June, according to FreightWaves, and its completion brings Paack Iberia and Paack France under the Colis Privé umbrella.

Colis Privé is also present in Belgium and Luxembourg, and the addition of Paack's Iberian network gives it a direct foothold in Spain and Portugal, where e-commerce demand is growing, the company said.

Rhine crisis prompts HGK to call for €12.5bn European shallow-water fleet build

German inland shipping group HGK is calling for a government-backed €12.5bn programme to build 1,000 shallow-water-capable vessels across Europe by 2035, according to Splash247. The push comes as Rhine water levels at the Kaub gauge fall to 16 cm, limiting cargo capacity. HGK warns that about 80% of dry cargo tonnage was built in the last century, with only 13 new dry cargo ships and 38 tankers added in 2024.
