US sees India emerging as key buyer of its cotton in 2026 as global demand shifts
Gary Adams, President and CEO of the National Cotton Council, stated that India is expected to emerge as a key buyer of US cotton in 2026, driven by lower domestic production and monsoon concerns. The USDA raised India's import estimate to 56.9 lakh bales, while global cotton demand is projected to increase 1.5-2%. Cotton prices on ICE reached a two-month high of over 82 cents per pound, supported by higher crude oil prices and supply uncertainties.
