COMA Urges Kerala to Regulate Coconut Trade to Curb Illegal Transactions
The Cochin Oil Merchants’ Association (COMA) has called on the Kerala government to introduce a regulatory framework for the trade and movement of coconuts, copra and coconut oil, citing large-scale unrecorded and clandestine transactions. The association recommends a market cess, trader registration, electronic documentation for bulk transport and digital tracking of inter-state movement to curb tax evasion and safeguard the state's coconut economy.
