China Speeds Up Sulphur Futures Plans as Iran Conflict Triggers Price Volatility
China is accelerating plans to launch its first sulphur futures contracts this year as the Iran conflict has intensified price volatility. The Dalian Commodity Exchange is likely to launch in Q4 2026. Spot sulphur prices in eastern China hit a record 11,850 yuan per metric tonne before easing to 9,043.5 yuan per tonne as shipments resumed through the Strait of Hormuz, but remain 292% higher year-on-year.
