Convertible Car Sales Plummet 90% as SUVs Dominate European Market

Sales of new convertible cars in the UK have fallen by nearly 90% over the past 20 years, from 109,171 in 2005 to just 11,484 last year, according to the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders. The decline coincides with the rise of SUVs, which accounted for 59% of European car sales in 2024.
