San Francisco city attorney David Chiu sent cease-and-desist letters to Apple and Google demanding removal of 13 AI-powered “nudify” apps that generate nonconsensual intimate images. The letters allege the tech giants have profited millions from the apps and are aiding illegal deepfake pornography. Google has removed hundreds of similar apps; Apple did not comment.
Technology xAI Asks Court to Strip Alleged Grok Deepfake Nudes Victims of Anonymity
Elon Musk's AI firm xAI is asking a federal court to overturn a ruling allowing four plaintiffs in a deepfake nudes lawsuit to proceed under pseudonyms. The plaintiffs, who claim Grok was used to create sexualized deepfake images including of a child, argue that public identification would lead to further harassment. xAI counters that civil procedure requires naming all parties and that the deepfake images will remain sealed.
