Assam's GI-tagged Tezpur litchi reaches Dubai, Singapore in landmark export

India has exported its first consignment of Geographical Indication (GI)-tagged Tezpur litchi from Assam to Dubai, with a one-metric-tonne shipment on June 7, followed by additional exports to Singapore. The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) facilitated the shipments, which secured farmers nearly 10% higher prices than domestic market rates. The exports mark a milestone for premium agricultural products from Northeast India.
