India's Power Sector Set for Strong FY27 Growth on Surging Demand and Capacity Additions: Report
A report by 360 ONE Capital forecasts robust growth for India's power sector in FY27, driven by 8% year-on-year electricity demand increase and record peak consumption of 270.82 GW. The country added 16.8 GW of capacity in the April-June 2026 quarter, with renewables leading at 13.2 GW. Coal remains the backbone of the energy mix, contributing ~70% of generation.
Green AI Carbon Optimizer Recommends Carbon-Efficient Training Locations and Forecasts Global AI Energy Demand
The Green AI Carbon Optimizer, presented in a new arXiv paper, offers two tools: a carbon-aware cloud region recommender for AI training and a power-law forecasting pipeline for global AI energy demand. By combining grid carbon intensity, renewable share, and PUE across 100+ regions, optimal region selection can reduce emissions by 97.2% versus the worst region. The forecasting model, based on 26 anchor models, projects 2030 AI energy demand between 7 TWh and 1,436 TWh depending on scenario assumptions.
Ethanol Prices and Flex Fuel Vehicles: A Market Shift
Ethanol demand is poised to rise as India reduces the cost of high-ethanol blended fuels and flex fuel vehicles. The government's efforts to cut GST rates and promote FFVs aim to decrease crude oil imports.
