Commodities MRPL diversifies crude sourcing to strengthen supply security amid geopolitical risks
Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd (MRPL) has diversified its crude oil sourcing to 273 grades from Asia, South America, Africa, the US and Russia, processing new crudes like Hout, Mostarda, Gindungo and Sarir Mesla. The strategy, detailed in MRPL's 2025-26 annual report, aims to reduce dependency on any single source and enhance supply security amid geopolitical tensions, particularly around the Strait of Hormuz. MRPL also collaborated with Indian Strategic Petroleum Reserves Ltd to utilize underground storage for crude inventory management.
