India's largest discount brokerages – Groww, Zerodha, Angel One, Upstox, and Dhan – are setting up operations in GIFT City to offer overseas investing, making it easier for Indian investors to buy global stocks like Apple, Nvidia, and Tesla. The move widens access to international markets, with fractional investing allowing entry from as little as $1. Brokerage fees are around 25 bps, and forex conversion charges range from 1% to 1.5% per transaction. Investments under the RBI's Liberalised Remittance Scheme attract 20% TCS, but trades on GIFT City exchanges are exempt from Securities Transaction Tax.
