Flat Nifty Hides Wide Two-Year Gap Between Top and Bottom Equity Fund Performers

Over the two years ended August 10, 2026, the Nifty 50 delivered annualised price returns of just 0.4 per cent (1.7 per cent total return), yet actively-managed equity funds ranged from a 10 per cent loss to a 20 per cent gain. A bl.portfolio analysis of 449 schemes found 52 per cent of funds beat their benchmarks, with outperformance concentrated in multi-cap, flexi-cap and small-cap categories and in larger fund houses.
