Indian Cotton Prices Gain on Monsoon Delay and Spike in Global Futures Rates
Indian cotton prices have risen by about ₹1,100 per candy over the past few days, driven by a spike in international ICE futures and a delay in monsoon progress in central India. The cotton sowing area is down 25% year-on-year, and CCI has sold 7 lakh bales recently. Tightening quality cotton supplies and sustained mill demand are supporting prices.
