The Bombay High Court directed the Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) to pay Rs 5 lakh compensation to Pune-based M/s Gurunanak Dairy and Sweets for failing to revoke its food licence suspension despite 98% compliance. The court vacated the June 12 suspension order and allowed the retailer to restart its dairy and sweets business.

Diageo-owned United Spirits has moved the Bombay High Court against an FSSAI order concerning McDowell's No. 1 Rum manufactured at its Baramati plant. FSSAI barred the sale of certain rum and whisky products, saying flavouring agents cannot replicate the taste of regular spirits. United Spirits says its product labels comply with Indian regulations and long-standing industry practice.
