Logistics Bangladesh Advances $1 Billion Shipbuilding and Repair Hub at Matarbari Deepsea Port
Bangladesh has granted in-principle approval for a $1 billion privately financed shipbuilding and repair complex at the emerging Matarbari deepsea port. The project, backed by Australia-based AIS Marine Investments and China Harbour Engineering Company, aims to reduce the need for large vessels to dock in Singapore, UAE, or China. The facility will include a 600m by 95m drydock and is expected to create up to 3,900 jobs.
