The Union cabinet approved a Rs 1,264-crore multi-tracking project on the Ballari-Guntakal rail section to add a third and fourth line, aiming to ease congestion, increase freight capacity by 16.22 million tonnes per annum, and improve connectivity across Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. The project, part of the PM Gati Shakti plan, is expected to be completed by 2028-29.

Maize gains ground in Madhya Pradesh, may offset decline in Karnataka and Maharashtra
