India’s first export of fresh Uttarakhand Litchi to Italy marks entry into European market
The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) facilitated the first export of fresh Uttarakhand litchi from Dehradun to Italy on June 18, 2026, comprising 1 metric tonne. India has exported its first consignment of Geographical Indication (GI)-tagged Tezpur litchi from Assam to Dubai, with a one-metric-tonne shipment on June 7, followed by additional exports to Singapore. The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) facilitated the shipments, which secured farmers nearly 10% higher prices than domestic market rates. The exports mark a milestone for premium agricultural products from Northeast India.
