The Union Cabinet approved two schemes totaling Rs 1.9 lakh crore: Semicon 2.0 (Rs 1,27,500 crore) for semiconductor fabrication, advanced packaging, materials, equipment, and design; and the Mobile Phone Manufacturing Scheme (Rs 62,500 crore) with sales-linked incentives and additional domestic sourcing benefits. The government targets a $500 billion electronics manufacturing industry by 2030-31.
