Plastic-bag manufacturer settles allegations of customs fraud for $7.3M
New York-based RediBagUSA and its CEO Jeffrey Rabiea agreed to pay $7.3 million to settle a customs fraud investigation. The U.S. Department of Justice alleged the company misrepresented the country of origin of plastic bags imported from China as Hong Kong to evade a 77.5% antidumping duty. The settlement resolves a whistleblower lawsuit, with the whistleblower receiving over $1.3 million.
