More FedEx MD-11 cargo jets return to service, others are retired

FedEx has reinstated four McDonnell Douglas MD-11 freighters since aviation authorities cleared the type to resume flying seven weeks ago, while also retiring five MD-11s and other aircraft last quarter. The remaining 25 MD-11s are expected to be ready by peak season. The moves are part of a broader fleet modernization and strategic shift toward deferred air cargo.
