Transpetro signs $427m contract for four MR1 tankers to boost Brazilian coastal fleet
Transpetro, the logistics arm of Petrobras, has signed a $427m contract with Estaleiro Rio Grande for four 40,000 dwt MR1 tankers. The vessels will transport oil and petroleum products along the Brazilian coast as part of the Mar Aberto programme, which aims to renew and expand Petrobras' shipping capacity with a total investment of about $6bn from 2026 to 2030. First delivery is expected within 33 months, and the company's owned fleet will grow from 26 to 42 vessels by 2030.
