Petrobras became one of the biggest gainers in the crude tanker market in H1 2026, climbing to second place in dirty charterer rankings as Unipec's VLCC dominance weakened due to Middle East disruption. According to Poten & Partners, Unipec's VLCC fixtures fell from 317 to 217, while Petrobras' rose 40% to 73, placing it ahead of TotalEnergies, Chevron, and ExxonMobil.

Brazilian state oil company Petrobras and Mexican state oil company Pemex have signed a memorandum of understanding to cooperate on hydrocarbon projects in the Gulf of Mexico. Brazilian offshore vessel owner OceanPact has secured a R$443.7m ($88.75m) contract from Petrobras to provide pull-out and collection services for flexible lines in the decommissioning of stationary production units at the Marlim field. The work will focus on the risers of the P-18 platform in the Campos Basin. This contract follows a previous decommissioning deal worth over R$1bn with Trident Energy, also in the Campos Basin.
