Lidl Opens First Pub in Northern Ireland to Circumvent Restrictive Licensing Laws

Lidl has opened its first-ever pub, The Middle Ale, in Dundonald, Northern Ireland, investing £500,000 and hiring eight staff. The move circumvents Northern Ireland's strict licensing laws that prevented the supermarket from obtaining a standard off-licence. The pub, named as a play on Lidl's famous middle aisle, is a strategic response to local licensing hurdles and population growth in the area.
