Sebi eases share transfer for legal heirs, reintroduces open market buybacks
The Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) has streamlined the process for transferring securities of deceased investors to legal heirs, eliminating the need for probate of wills and separate affidavits. The regulator also doubled small-value claim thresholds and reintroduced open market buybacks via the stock exchange mechanism. Additionally, Sebi eased intra-day borrowing for mutual funds and approved a new code of conduct for its employees.
