BKS general secretary Mohini Mohan Mishra alleged that Bt cotton adoption in 2002 led to a decline in production, pest resistance, and loss of indigenous varieties. The demand comes as US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer visits India for FTA discussions, with GM crops a key issue. BKS also highlighted falling cotton prices after the government abolished 11% import duty until October 31.
