Stormont Economy Minister Archibald Plans Storm Compensation Law Despite Regulator Opposition
Stormont Economy Minister Caomihe Archibald has directed officials to propose removing the severe weather exemption for compensation to households affected by power outages, despite the Utility Regulator's concerns that the costs could be passed to consumers. Northern Ireland is currently the only part of the UK without a compensation scheme for storm-related electricity disruptions. The move follows criticism after Storm Éowyn last year, when NIE Networks declined voluntary payments.
