Seoul probes safety conditions at HD Hyundai following subcontractor deaths
South Korea's Ministry of Employment and Labor has deployed a 62-strong inspection team to HD Hyundai Heavy Industries after two fatal crushing accidents killed subcontracted workers within six days. The probe covers the Ulsan and Gunsan shipyards, company headquarters, and an ultra-high-risk plant, examining entrapment, collision, fall, fire, and confined-space risks. Labour minister Kim Young-hoon promised a "zero-tolerance" approach to companies where similar fatal accidents recur.
