Logistics Dunkirk starts work on second container terminal, expanding capacity to 2m TEU
The port of Dunkirk has commenced construction of its second container terminal, a €303m project that will more than double box handling capacity from 850,000 TEU to approximately 2m TEU. The new deepwater quay, awarded to a Spie Batignolles-led joint venture, will accommodate two ultra-large containerships simultaneously and is expected to be completed by 2029. The expansion follows a record 2025 throughput of 747,000 TEU and the reinstatement of CMA CGM's Ocean Alliance FAL1 service.
Commodities Centre Approves ₹3,400 Crore Expansion of IndianOil's Ennore LNG Terminal to 10 MTPA
The Union Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) has granted environmental clearance for the ₹3,400-crore expansion of IndianOil LNG Pvt Ltd's Ennore LNG terminal in North Chennai, doubling regasification capacity from 5 MTPA to 10 MTPA. The expansion, driven by rising natural gas demand in the region, will increase regasification capacity from 20 MMSCMD to 40 MMSCMD, supplying RLNG to industries across Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka. Completion is expected in 54 months and supports India's goal of raising natural gas's share in the energy mix to 15% by 2030.
Logistics COSCO-Led Consortium Wins Terminal Award at Port of Tarragona in Spain
A COSCO Shipping Ports-led consortium has received an award notification from the Port Authority of Tarragona for a new multipurpose terminal in Spain, valued at around €144.6 million. The consortium includes COSCO Shipping Ports, COSCO Shipping Bulk, and PTP Ibérica. The terminal, located at the Andalucía Wharf area, will cover more than 510,000 sq m and handle containers, general cargo, vehicles, roro traffic, and rail-borne cargo. The award is conditional on final regulatory procedures and concession signing.
Logistics Hapag-Lloyd expands terminal portfolio with Hamburg and Tangier Med stake increases
Hapag-Lloyd's terminal arm, Hanseatic Global Terminals (HGT), is acquiring a 20% stake in Eurogate Container Terminal Hamburg (CTH) and doubling its holding in Morocco's TC3 terminal at Tangier Med from 10% to 20%. The moves give the carrier interests in two of Hamburg's four major container terminals and reinforce its position at a key Mediterranean transhipment hub. The transactions are subject to regulatory approvals.

Transnet National Ports Authority has signed a 25-year agreement with Ukwanda LNG to develop an LNG terminal at the Port of Ngqura. This $1.35bn project will enhance South Africa's energy infrastructure and support its Just Energy Transition programme.
