CK Line signs for up to four 6,400 teu newbuilds in China
South Korea's CK Line has signed a contract with Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding for up to four 6,400 teu containerships, marking the largest vessels ever ordered by the carrier. The newbuilds, with around 1,150 reefer plugs each, are designed by CSSC's 708 Research Institute and will significantly expand CK Line's capacity on regional trades linking Korea with China, Japan, Southeast Asia and Russia.

Shanghai smashes daily container record with 203,881 teu in a single day
Shanghai International Port Group moved 203,881 teu on August 1, a daily container throughput record for the port and the first time it has exceeded 200,000 teu in a day. The record came after Typhoon Bavi caused a four-day disruption, and follows a 6.2% year-on-year rise in first-half 2026 volumes.
