Tsakos Energy Navigation Orders Second LNG Carrier from HD Hyundai, Expanding Newbuilding Program to 20 Vessels

Tsakos Energy Navigation (TEN) has ordered a second LNG carrier from HD Hyundai Heavy Industries, scheduled for delivery in the first quarter of 2029. The order expands TEN's newbuilding program to 20 vessels, including LNG carriers, tankers, and shuttle tankers. The company's pro forma fleet now stands at 83 vessels with over 11 million dwt capacity.

Tsakos Joins Greek Capesize Ordering Wave at Hengli Heavy Industries

Tsakos Group has contracted two 180,000 dwt capesize bulk carriers at China's Hengli Heavy Industries for about $78m each, with delivery in 2028. The order joins a wave of Greek dry bulk ordering at the yard, including Cape Shipping's separate deal for up to three similar vessels. The moves signal renewed Greek interest in capesize tonnage.
