Crisil data shows tomato, onion, potato prices push up July veg thali cost

Crisil's Roti Rice Rate report found that tomato, onion and potato prices pushed the average cost of a home-cooked vegetarian thali in India up 4% month-on-month to ₹28.1 in July, while the non-vegetarian thali cost fell 2% to ₹53.5. On an annual basis, the veg thali was 14% cheaper and the non-veg thali around 13% cheaper, driven by lower prices for tomato, onion, potato, pulses, rice and broiler chicken.
