FSSAI Tightens Rules for Alcohol Labels, Targets Flavoured Rum and Whisky Products
FSSAI has initiated enforcement action against makers of Old Monk, McDowell's, Bagpiper, Antiquity Blue and Royal Challenge for allegedly adding external rum and whisky flavours and making misleading age claims. The regulator said products made primarily from neutral alcohol and external flavour should be labelled as 'Rum-flavoured Spirit' or 'Whisky-flavoured Spirit'.
