Six of India's ten most valuable listed companies added more than Rs 1 lakh crore to their combined market capitalisation last week, according to a market recap by the Times of India. Bharti Airtel and Bajaj Finance emerged as the top gainers, while Larsen & Toubro and Reliance Industries suffered the steepest declines.
Broad Market Performance
The broader market remained firm, with the BSE Sensex advancing 663.44 points, or 0.86%, over the week, while the NSE Nifty gained 214.85 points, or 0.89%, as reported by the Times of India.
Ajit Mishra, SVP, Research at Religare Broking Ltd, attributed the rally to "strong domestic macroeconomic indicators, robust GST collections and improving industrial activity." He added that "expectations of a more accommodative global monetary policy following softer-than-expected US labour market data further strengthened investor sentiment."

For investors and corporate strategists, the rotation of gains among financials and telecom companies, alongside the resilience of consumer staples, highlights shifting sectoral preferences amid improving domestic economic indicators and global monetary policy expectations. The divergence between gainers and losers suggests that market participants are differentiating between companies based on their exposure to cyclical demand and interest rate sensitivity.
