Bayer Launches Trance Insecticide to Help Indian Cotton Farmers Combat Sucking Pests

Bayer has announced the launch of Trance, an innovative insecticide designed to help cotton farmers effectively manage sucking pest complexes, including aphids, jassids, and whitefly nymphs, according to a company statement. The product will be available in 100 ML, 220 ML, and 500 ML pack sizes across key cotton-growing states starting July 2026.

Increasing Pest Pressure in Cotton Cultivation

The company noted that cotton cultivation in India continues to face increasing pressure from multiple sucking pests occurring simultaneously, evolving pest resistance, and limited cost-effective solutions for managing pest complexes. These challenges often lead to reduced crop vigour, lower yields, and increased production costs for farmers.

Product Features and Benefits

Trance combines two complementary modes of action in a single solution, delivering broad-spectrum control while promoting healthier crops, improved productivity, and enhanced farmer profitability. Developed to address evolving needs, it offers two-way systemic movement and translaminar action, ensuring protection of both existing foliage and new plant growth. Its rainfast formulation provides reliable performance within two hours of application and fits seamlessly into Integrated Pest Management (IPM) programmes, supporting more sustainable crop protection practices.

Availability Across Key States

Trance will be available from July 2026 in the following key cotton-growing states:

  • Maharashtra
  • Gujarat
  • Madhya Pradesh
  • Tamil Nadu
  • Kerala
  • Rajasthan
  • Karnataka
  • Andhra Pradesh
  • Telangana
  • Punjab
  • Haryana
  • West Bengal

"At Bayer, innovation begins with understanding farmers’ evolving challenges. Sucking pest complexes have become increasingly difficult to manage due to multiple pest occurrences and rising resistance. Trance brings together two complementary modes of action in one innovative solution, offering effective and sustainable pest management while helping farmers improve crop health, productivity and profitability." — Mohan Babu, Chief Operating Officer - India, Crop Science Division, Bayer.

Strengthening Bayer’s Crop Protection Portfolio

With the launch of Trance, Bayer continues to strengthen its crop protection portfolio by delivering science-based innovations that enable farmers to produce more while conserving resources and advancing sustainable agriculture, the company said.

The introduction of Trance offers Indian cotton farmers a new tool to combat persistent pest challenges, potentially improving yield stability and reducing reliance on multiple sprays. For commodity traders and agribusiness executives, enhanced pest management in India—a major cotton producer—could support more consistent supply and quality, though specific yield impacts remain to be seen.
