Bank of Baroda and Mizuho Bank have entered a strategic partnership to jointly pursue M&A financing, structured lending, and cross-border corporate banking, as deal activity and capital needs rise, according to a report by Business-Today.

The tie-up combines Mizuho’s global network and structured finance expertise with Bank of Baroda’s domestic franchise and corporate relationships. It comes after Mizuho acquired a 60% stake in Avendus Capital in December 2025, subject to approvals, the source reported.

Collaboration Scope

The banks will collaborate on acquisition finance through joint origination, structuring, co-underwriting, and syndication. They will also advise on select M&A deals and create a preferred channel for sub-participation and secondary risk distribution.

Synergy Overview

Focus Areas Cross-border corporate banking, M&A financing, structured lending Domestic corporate banking, M&A financing

Implications for Corporate Finance Executives

For CFOs, treasury directors, and trade finance professionals, this partnership offers a streamlined approach to acquisition finance and cross-border lending. By combining Mizuho's global capabilities with Bank of Baroda's local ties, the partnership can potentially reduce the cost of capital for M&A transactions through co-underwriting and syndication. The preferred channel for sub-participation and secondary risk distribution may also enhance liquidity management for corporate borrowers.

Strategic Context

The partnership aligns with rising M&A activity and capital needs in the market. Mizuho's existing involvement with Avendus Capital further strengthens its advisory footprint in India. The collaboration is expected to support Indian corporates seeking cross-border expansion as well as foreign firms looking to invest in India, leveraging Bank of Baroda's extensive domestic network.

Outlook

Business-Today reported that the banks will pursue joint origination, structuring, co-underwriting, and syndication of acquisition finance, along with advisory on select deals.
