AscendTMS Integrates SearchCarriers to Boost Carrier Verification and Fight Freight Fraud

For shippers and brokers, freight fraud and carrier verification remain top operational risks. AscendTMS has integrated carrier intelligence provider SearchCarriers into its Carrier Verification and Qualification (CVQ) system to provide real-time, cost-free carrier data directly within the TMS, according to a news release reported by FreightWaves.

Integration Details

AscendTMS, a cloud-based transportation management system developed by InMotion Global Inc. (Brandon, Florida), has integrated SearchCarriers (Raleigh, North Carolina) into its CVQ platform. The integration allows SearchCarriers' continuously updated carrier and broker database to power AscendTMS' built-in CVQ system, enabling users to verify carriers, evaluate brokers, and identify potential risks without leaving the TMS, the companies said.

Tim Higham, CEO of AscendTMS, stated in the release: "SearchCarriers has become one of the best and cleanest sources of carrier and broker intelligence in the market. By powering AscendTMS' free Carrier Verification and Qualification system with SearchCarriers data, we are giving brokers and shippers a powerful and totally free tool to help them verify, qualify, and select the best of the best carriers and drivers to move their freight."

SearchCarriers aggregates information from multiple live data sources, cleans and validates the information, and continuously updates records to provide current carrier and broker intelligence, according to the company.

Fraud-Fighting Capabilities

The collaboration is designed to help transportation providers combat several fraud types, including:

  • Freight fraud
  • Double brokering
  • Identity theft
  • Unsafe carrier selection

The system simplifies due diligence, giving users a powerful verification tool at no additional cost.

Industry Impact and Quotes

AscendTMS officials said its platform is used by more than 69,000 companies in over 20 countries, ranging from small brokerages and trucking companies to large multinational logistics organizations.

The enhanced CVQ platform can serve as either a primary carrier verification tool or as a secondary validation alongside commercial vetting platforms such as Highway, MyCarrierPortal, and Truckstop's RMIS, according to the companies.

Garrett Allen, founder and CEO of SearchCarriers, said: "SearchCarriers was built to fight fraud, improve transparency, and help freight professionals find the right carriers and brokers faster. AscendTMS gives us the perfect platform to put that data directly into the workflow of one of the largest and most important TMS user bases in the industry."

What This Means for Procurement Teams

For chief supply chain officers and logistics directors, the integration eliminates the need to switch between systems for carrier checks, reducing verification time and operational cost. The free nature of the CVQ platform lowers the barrier for small and midsize transportation companies that may not have resources for enterprise-level compliance platforms, as Allen noted. By embedding SearchCarriers data directly into the TMS workflow, procurement teams can now perform continuous due diligence without incurring additional subscription fees, strengthening their fraud prevention posture.
