From Hurricane Wasteland to World's Largest LNG Hub: Louisiana Parish Booms
Cameron Parish, Louisiana, transformed from a community destroyed by Hurricane Rita in 2005 into a global LNG powerhouse. The world's largest LNG terminal, Sabine Pass, operates there, processing 29.5 million tonnes annually. Two more terminals exist, and a $13bn fourth is under construction. The county projects over $4bn in tax revenues from LNG over the next decade, as US exports surge to supply European demand following Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
