NHTSA Warns Autonomous Vehicle Developers Over Interference With First Responders

The head of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) sent a letter to autonomous vehicle developers decrying a pattern of driverless cars interfering with emergency responders. The US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has launched a special crash investigation into a fatal accident on 19 June in Texas, where a Tesla Model 3 drove into a house, killing a 76-year-old woman. Local police reported the driver said the vehicle was operating with an automated driving assistance system at the time.
