Dutton Ranch Star Denies Set Clash as Showrunner Feehan Exits Taylor Sheridan We

Despite reports of behind-the-scenes turmoil on the Yellowstone spinoff Dutton Ranch, one cast member is pushing back. Berto Colón, who plays Miguel on the Paramount+ series, told TechRadar he 'didn't see any disruption' on set while working on season 1.

Feehan's Exit and Reported Friction

According to TechRadar, in April 2026 — a month before Dutton Ranch premiered — it was reported that showrunner Chad Feehan had exited the series. The report, from Puck News, alleged 'behind-the-scenes friction with series stars Cole Hauser and Kelly Reilly, as well as 'other key players' such as Taylor Sheridan.'

TechRadar cited Puck News as adding that Feehan 'finished the first season but has been told he won't return for the second, per three sources.' The report also noted that 'this was less of a pure creative issue ... and more about how Feehan ran the production. Sheridan, producer David Glasser, and the stars weren't happy, so Feehan's out.'

Hauser's Cryptic Denial

Earlier, Hauser cryptically denied any friction exclusively to TechRadar. He explained before the show's premiere, 'Taylor's got his hands all over this show. That's the only way he knows how to do things. Look, you're gonna go through your ups and downs, through this business, and it's about adapting. That's what we did.'

Colón: 'Not at All'

Five episodes into Dutton Ranch, Colón came to Hauser's defense. Asked if he felt the Feehan rumors had truth, Colón told TechRadar: 'Not at all.' He elaborated: 'I met Chad a bunch of times, but I don't know what the deal is. That's something that's above my pay grade. As actors, we're there to make sure that we complete a task and to make sure we complete it as truthfully as possible.'

Colón continued: 'The ongoings that happen behind the scenes is something that I'm not involved with, but as far as energy and what we did, everyone who came on board, tuned into what the story needed to be like. I didn't see any disruption of that process. I just love everyone there. I love what that they're about.'

Season 2 Uncertain, Renewal Hopeful

As of the TechRadar article, Dutton Ranch season 2 had not been confirmed. Rumors suggest a lead writer from season 1 might be elevated to showrunner. TechRadar's Jasmine Valentine noted that she is 'advocating for Sheridan to resume the position himself' (he is currently an executive producer).

Colón expressed hope for renewal: 'There needs to be a continuation to this. I don't have any actual carnal knowledge of that, I just know that the numbers speak for themselves. If any show deserves a few more seasons, it's this one.'

Dutton Ranch continues airing its first nine episodes until July 3, 2026, on Paramount+.

Implications for Production Management

For trade professionals in the entertainment production supply chain, this situation underscores how showrunner changes can affect scheduling, post-production workflows, and vendor relationships. While Colón reported smooth on-set operations, the exit of a showrunner mid-stream often leads to adjustments in script approvals, budgeting, and subcontractor assignments. The lack of a confirmed season 2 means studios and logistics partners may delay procurement decisions. Paramount+'s confidence in the show, as cited by Puck News ('the scripts were good ... Paramount is confident in the show'), suggests continuity investments are likely once a new showrunner is named.
