Gold rates across India climbed on August 6, 2026, with every major city posting higher prices for both 22-carat and 24-carat gold compared with the previous day, according to The Hindu BusinessLine's gold rate tracker. Across the country, 22-carat gold was quoted at ₹13,775 per gram, up ₹265, while the 8-gram lot was priced at ₹1,10,200, up ₹2,120.

City-wise movement in 22-carat gold

Mumbai and Kolkata recorded the steepest 8-gram 22-carat advances, both up by ₹2,120, while Chennai and Hyderabad followed with a ₹2,160 rise in the same measure. Delhi and Ahmedabad trailed with a ₹680 increase, and Bengaluru led the list with a ₹2,210 gain on the 8-gram 22-carat rate, according to The Hindu BusinessLine.

On a per-gram basis for 22-carat gold, Bengaluru posted the biggest single-day gain of ₹278. Chennai and Hyderabad rose by ₹270, while Mumbai, Delhi, Ahmedabad and Kolkata each added ₹265. Kolkata's 22-carat per-gram price of ₹13,875 was the highest among the seven cities, followed by Bengaluru at ₹13,835 and Ahmedabad at ₹13,829, as reported by The Hindu BusinessLine.

24-carat gold: variations across cities

For 24-carat gold, Chennai and Hyderabad saw the largest per-gram increase of ₹284, taking their rates to ₹14,438. Mumbai's 24-carat rate rose ₹275 to ₹14,464 per gram, while Delhi, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru and Kolkata each gained ₹278 to reach ₹14,516, ₹14,520, ₹14,525 and ₹14,569 per gram respectively, according to The Hindu BusinessLine.

On the 8-gram 24-carat measure, Chennai and Hyderabad climbed ₹2,272 to ₹1,15,504. The remaining five cities — Mumbai, Delhi, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru and Kolkata — each rose by ₹2,224, with 8-gram prices of ₹1,15,712, ₹1,16,128, ₹1,16,160, ₹1,13,232 and ₹1,16,552 respectively, as reported by The Hindu BusinessLine.

City ranking and Bengaluru's reported anomaly

Kolkata emerged with the highest quoted 24-carat per-gram rate at ₹14,569, ahead of Bengaluru at ₹14,525 and Ahmedabad at ₹14,520. The reported cost of 8 grams of 24-carat gold in Bengaluru at ₹1,13,232 is lower than the same measure in all other cities, and also below its own 8-gram 22-carat rate of ₹1,16,216, as per the figures published by The Hindu BusinessLine. The smallest 8-gram 22-carat advance was shared by Delhi and Ahmedabad at ₹680.
