Validity of FY26 Gold Import Quota Licences Under India-UAE Trade Pact Extended Till September 30

The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) has automatically extended the validity of FY26 gold import quota licences issued under the India-UAE Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) until September 30, 2026. No separate application or fee is required. The move covers the 200-metric-tonne annual gold import quota with a 1% tariff concession.

Validity of FY26 Gold Import Quota Licences Under India-UAE Trade Pact Extended Till September 30

The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) has automatically extended the validity of tariff rate quota (TRQ) authorisations for gold imported under the India-UAE Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) for the financial year 2025-26 until September 30, 2026, according to a public notice from the DGFT.

Background of the India-UAE CEPA Gold Quota

India and the UAE implemented the CEPA in May 2022. Under the pact, India agreed to import up to 200 metric tonnes of gold annually from the United Arab Emirates with a 1% tariff concession under a TRQ arrangement, as reported by the Economic Times.

Details of the Extension

"The validity of TRQ authorisations for import of gold... issued under the India-UAE CEPA, issued in the financial year 2025-26, stands automatically extended up to 30.09.2026," the DGFT stated. The authority clarified that no separate application, composition fee, amendment or endorsement is required to avail this automatic extension.

Review of Wheat Flour Export Quotas

In a separate but related decision, the competent authority has decided to undertake a review of the utilisation of quantities already allocated for the export of wheat flour and related items, and to assess the requirement for further allocation of unutilised quota, if any. The DGFT stated that exporters would have to submit utilisation certificates issued by a Chartered Accountant indicating the quantity exported against the allocated authorisation till June 30, 2026, along with Shipping Bill details and copies of valid export contracts/purchase orders, if available.
