Posidonia 2026 opens in Athens, marking the largest gathering in the event's history with over 40,000 shipping professionals attending. This year's focus is on maritime security, energy transition, and geopolitical risks.

Record Participation and Exhibitors

The exhibition, held at the Athens Metropolitan Expo, features more than 2,220 exhibitors from 83 countries, a 9% increase from 2024. The event spans 45,000 sq m and includes 24 national pavilions, with Germany and Italy returning after long absences.

Key Themes and Technologies

Over 30 companies will showcase artificial intelligence applications for shipping, while more than 100 exhibitors present technologies for environmental compliance and net-zero targets. Discussions will cover digitalisation, cybersecurity, and maritime decarbonisation.

"In a time of international challenges and multiple disruptions, Greek shipping stands as a pillar of stability, resilience and global connectivity," said Melina Travlos, head of the Union of Greek Shipowners.

Industry Challenges and Opportunities

The event occurs amidst complex operating environments, with conflicts, sanctions, and shifting trade patterns affecting decisions. Theodore Vokos, Posidonia's managing director, noted recent Gulf tensions highlighting industry resilience.
