Singapore Week of Maritime Events in September 2026: Why Executives Should Plan Now for Splash Singapore and More

International shipping executives should plan now to base themselves in Singapore for the week of September 21–25, 2026, as a concentrated run of major maritime events—including the inaugural Splash Singapore conference—brings together many of the industry’s most influential decision-makers. The week offers a compressed schedule of high-level meetings, conferences, and networking opportunities that can replace months of separate travel, according to event organisers.

A Packed Maritime Calendar

At the centre of the week is Splash Singapore, taking place at the Fairmont Hotel on Thursday, September 24. Organised by the team behind Splash and Geneva Dry, the conference brings together leading shipowners, shipmanagers, charterers, cargo interests, and technology executives for a day of fast-moving debate on commercial forces reshaping global shipping. The event builds on eight editions of the Maritime CEO Forum Singapore and the organisers’ successful Geneva Dry conference.

Surrounding Splash Singapore is an exceptionally busy maritime calendar:

Event Date(s) Venue Expected Attendance / Notes
IMO Research and Development Forum on marine pollution preparedness September 21–22
Marine Money Week Asia (25th anniversary) September 22–23 St Regis
SpillAsia 2026 September 23–25 Suntec Singapore
Submarine Networks World & co-located Subsea Security World September 23–24 Sands Expo and Convention Centre More than 1,000 attendees from global subsea communications and infrastructure sectors
Splash Singapore September 24 Fairmont Hotel Inaugural event
World Maritime Day September 24 IMO 2026 theme: “From Policy to Practice: Powering Maritime Excellence”
Singapore Shipping Association (SSA) 41st Anniversary Gala Dinner September 25 Marina Bay Sands More than 2,600 members and guests expected

Additionally, the Mid-Autumn Festival falls on Friday, September 25, with Singapore’s lantern displays, mooncakes, and evening celebrations providing an excellent backdrop for client entertainment and weekend hospitality.

Key Themes and Voices

The IMO’s 2026 World Maritime Day theme, “From Policy to Practice: Powering Maritime Excellence”, provides a timely backdrop for discussions at Splash Singapore on regulation, decarbonisation, technology, geopolitics, and shipping’s changing commercial environment. The conference programme favours direct discussion over presentations, with panels addressing trade flows, freight markets, geopolitics, regulation, fuels, and emerging technologies.

“This is not about flying halfway around the world for a single conference. It is an opportunity to compress months of meetings, intelligence gathering and relationship-building into four or five highly productive days. You have ship finance leaders at Marine Money, owners, managers and charterers at Splash Singapore, specialist communities gathering around environmental response and subsea infrastructure, and then the wider Singapore maritime community coming together at the SSA dinner.” – Grant Rowles, co-founder of Splash

Christoph Toepfer, CEO of Borealis Maritime and founder of Borealis Tankers, will speak on the tankers panel. He commented: “In the past, I’ve found the calibre of attendees at Splash events very high.” Also participating on the tankers panel is Nitin Mathur, managing director for commercial shipping at Al Seer Marine.

Implications for Logistics Professionals

For freight forwarders, logistics managers, 3PL operators, ocean carriers, port authorities, and supply chain directors, the concentration of events offers a rare opportunity to conduct high-level business development, market intelligence, and relationship building in one trip. The week covers a wide spectrum of maritime sectors—from commercial shipping and finance to environmental response and subsea infrastructure—making it relevant for professionals across the logistics value chain. Grant Rowles emphasised: “For an international shipping executive, the value is in that extraordinary concentration of people. One journey can deliver conference intelligence, client meetings, new business conversations and the chance to reconnect with the people shaping maritime Asia. Come for Splash Singapore, but make the whole week count.”

With the SSA gala dinner expected to draw more than 2,600 attendees, the week culminates in one of the largest annual gatherings in Maritime Singapore, reinforcing the city-state’s position as a global maritime hub.

Transponders Off: Saudi Crude Tankers for India Exit Red Sea 'Dark' to Avoid Houthi Blockade

Two oil tankers carrying Saudi crude to Indian refiners—the Suezmax Amazon and Aframax Rodos—switched off their Automatic Identification System (AIS) transponders to safely exit the Red Sea via the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, after Houthi rebels announced a blockade on Saudi shipments. The vessels, managed by Dynacom Tankers, changed course southward on July 22 and are now heading to India, with Rodos due at Mangalore on August 1 and Amazon expected in Chennai in early August. This is the first known instance of 'dark' sailing for Saudi crude tankers to India since the blockade began.
