At the High End Vienna show, iFi unveiled its latest portable DAC, the iFi iDSD GR 2, aiming to enhance audio quality for hi-res audio enthusiasts. This new model builds on the success of its predecessor, the iFi xDSD Gryphon, by offering more amplification power and a more intuitive interface.

The iFi iDSD GR 2 features a new Burr Brown PCM1795 chipset, delivering 50% more output power than its predecessor, up to 1,513mW RMS. This chipset supports true 32-bit resolution audio, providing greater dynamic range and less distortion. The DAC's current-output design allows for a bespoke analog output stage, maintaining the warm, analog sound iFi is known for.
Intuitive User Interface
A significant upgrade is the inclusion of a color OLED touchscreen, replacing the previous black and white display. This enhancement allows users to easily navigate settings and connectivity options, improving the overall user experience. Despite the added display, the GR 2 boasts a 4,900mAh battery, offering a third more capacity than the original Gryphon.
Advanced Features and Connectivity
The GR 2 incorporates K2HD technology, licensed exclusively from JVC Kenwood, to restore harmonic detail and enhance audio fidelity. Connectivity options include Bluetooth 5.4 with aptX codecs, a 4.4mm and 3.5mm input/output, and a USB-C port, making it versatile for various audio setups.
