Logistics Asyad Brings Omani Investors Into LNG Carrier Pair, Retains Majority Control
Asyad Shipping has sold 20% stakes in the companies owning two new LNG carriers – Muscat LNG and Musandam LNG – to Omani investors. Oman LNG Development Foundation Investment Fund and Mars Development and Investment each acquired 10%, while Asyad retains 80% and operational control. The 174,000 cbm vessels were built by HD Hyundai Samho and are on long-term charter to Oman LNG.

Omani owner Asyad Shipping has ordered six MR product tankers at HD Hyundai Heavy Industries for $308m, with deliveries from 2029, and has secured five-year time charter contracts for all vessels with a leading global energy company. The deal continues Asyad's fleet expansion following its Muscat Stock Exchange listing, and follows recent dry bulk acquisitions including two kamsarmaxes and two baby capes.

Oman's Asyad Group and French liner CMA CGM have signed a framework agreement to develop and operate a new multipurpose logistics terminal in Sohar, with an expected investment of around $400m. The project aims to strengthen Oman's position in regional and international trade corridors, adding integrated logistics and cargo handling capacity.
