Gold loans jump 93.8% y-o-y, fuel bank credit growth in Q1FY27
According to Business Today, gold loans expanded 93.8% year-on-year at end-June 2026, accounting for 13.1% of incremental non-food credit. Overall bank credit rose 18.6% to Rs 219.3 lakh crore, led by industry (19.2%) and services (21.4%) growth.

In FY26, business credit share in bank loans increased significantly, with private corporate sector loans growing by 15.5%. Deposit growth also accelerated to 11.5%, reflecting a shift towards term deposits.
