BSE Sensex trades in green, Nifty50 slips in red: Why benchmark indices moved opposite?
On Tuesday, BSE Sensex rose 166.15 points while Nifty50 fell 159.25 points, and the National Stock Exchange attributed the unusual divergence to the new Closing Auction Session mechanism. The exchange said separate order books and the pause in continuous order matching between 3:15 pm and 3:30 pm explain the different index values. The first CAS session, implemented under SEBI guidance, drew 515 trading members covering 56,773 unique PANs.
