Seacon Shipping Acquires Two Chemical Tanker Newbuilds for $39.2 Million
Seacon Shipping, through its Singapore subsidiary, has agreed to buy two 2026-built chemical/oil tanker newbuilds from Oriental Prime Shipping for $39.2 million. The vessels, Golden Gerbera and Golden Osmanthus, cost $19.6 million each and will be funded via internal resources and external financing. The acquisition supports Seacon's strategy to phase out older vessels and expand its controlled fleet.

Chinese tanker owner Nanjing Shenghang Shipping has placed an order for a 6,200 dwt chemical tanker at Zhejiang Dongpeng Shipyard, marking the start of a new fleet renewal programme. The vessel, scheduled for delivery in 2027, will transport liquid chemicals and refined petroleum products. The company, with over 50 vessels and major charterer approvals (Shell, BP, CDI, Sinopec), aims to build a younger, greener fleet.
