Why Biofortified Crops Could Shape the Next Phase of Indian Agriculture
According to Prateek Rastogi of Better Nutrition, biofortified crops bred through conventional methods could shift Indian agriculture from calorie security to nutrition security. ICAR has released more than 150 varieties across wheat, rice, pearl millet, sorghum, maize, and mustard, with biofortified wheat containing roughly twice the iron and zinc of conventional wheat.
