Rambutan emerges as Kerala's new cash crop as farmers shift from rubber
According to a PTI report, rambutan has become one of Kerala's fastest-expanding commercial fruit crops as farmers shift from rubber. The Rambutan Mangosteen Farmers' Organisation estimates 25,000 acres under cultivation, one lakh tonne output and Rs 1,000 crore revenue this season.

In Kerala's rubber belt, spiky red rambutan fruit raises hopes for new farming future
PTI reported that rambutan has become one of Kerala's fastest-expanding commercial fruit crops, covering nearly 25,000 acres and producing around one lakh tonne worth Rs 1,000 crore this season. Rubber farmers in districts such as Pathanamthitta and Idukki are turning to the fruit as latex prices, labour and weather pressure the traditional crop.
